What’s On Dublin is a listings site. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run personalised ads, and we don’t have much interest in knowing who you are.
We collect some basic information about how the site is used, and we keep information you choose to give us. If you want to know what we hold about you or want something deleted, email [email protected].
We record basic information about visits to the site, including the page you looked at, searches or filters you used, your device type, where you came from and whether you clicked a ticket link.
We don’t store your IP address. We turn it into a one-way salted hash, which lets us roughly count visitors without keeping the address itself. We keep these statistics for up to 12 months.
We also use GoatCounter for basic site statistics. It doesn’t use cookies or track people across different websites.
If you create an account, we keep the email address you sign up with and anything you choose to save to your account, such as saved gigs or preferences. We use this to run the account and make those things available when you sign in. We keep it until you delete the account or ask us to remove it.
If you join the mailing list, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
If you contact us or suggest an event or venue, we keep what you send us while we’re dealing with it and for up to 12 months afterwards.
We may keep a hashed version of the IP address used to submit a form to help deal with spam. We don’t keep the IP address itself.
Some ticket links are affiliate links. If you buy a ticket after following one, we may get a small commission. It doesn’t cost you anything extra or affect what we list.
We use Impact to manage these links. Its technology may store or read an identifier in your browser so that a purchase can be connected to the link you clicked. Impact has its own privacy policy at impact.com/privacy-policy.
Links to ticket sellers, venues and other sites take you away from What’s On Dublin, and their own privacy policies apply once you’re there.
The site uses local storage for things like saved gigs and your light or dark theme. This stays in your browser and can be removed by clearing the site’s data.
If you connect Spotify to make a playlist, you log in with Spotify directly. We never see your password. The access token is stored in your browser and is only used to create the playlist you asked for.
We use basic site statistics, account information, form information and spam controls to run and improve the site.
Under GDPR, we rely on our legitimate interests for this. For the mailing list, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We don’t sell your personal data or give it to anyone else for their advertising.
The main outside services used by the site are GoatCounter, Impact and Spotify, if you connect it. The site itself is hosted on a server in Helsinki, Finland.
You can ask what personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. You can also withdraw your consent to emails at any time.
Email [email protected] and we’ll deal with your request within the time required by GDPR.
You can also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
What’s On Dublin operates whatsondublin.ie and gigsintown.ie and is run by one person in Dublin.
